The Manager, Scholarly Resources reports to the Deputy Director, Library Services and manages the staff and operations of Scholarly Resources team, including Acquisitions and Copyright. The position contributes to Swinburne’s 2025 strategy through development of a broad range of licensed and open online information resources to support research with impact and future ready learners.

The role manages library acquisition operations for development of the library collection of physical and digital information resources, licensing requirements, oversight and management of the library collection budgets, and the management of copyright information services to Swinburne.

The Manager, Scholarly Resources works closely with other Library Services managers and staff to deliver collections and services aligned with the requirements of teaching, learning and research across the University, and contributes as a key member of the Library Services management team to the overall strategies and operations of the Department.

The Manager, Scholarly Resources works with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic and operational outcomes including library collection development, financial management for the library collection budgets, and copyright management for the University as a whole. The position actively seeks opportunities to further develop the library collection, improve business practices, and ensures the collection and analysis of statistical data to drive decision making and innovation.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Experience in a senior role leading innovative and customer focused library, information management, knowledge management, digital services, copyright and licensing, or related environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of current library, digital and information management, copyright and licensing issues as they relate to the educational sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and management in large and complex organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience in building partnerships, complex stakeholder management, and driving and negotiating change.
  • A strong knowledge of, and interest in, copyright law, intellectual property issues and licensing as they relate to their application in an educational environment.

Qualifications
  • Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, extensive management experience and proven management expertise, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
